hilltop villages of the area. Built in the middle ages as protection from invaders
from the sea, the area is dotted with ancient castles and chateaux.
Fayence is situated on the vast " massif de l'Esterel " which plunges down
to the Mediterranean coast.. It is just inland from Frejus & St Raphael
and very close to the lovely Lac de St Cassien.
